Thank you again to everyone who came to our auditions and sang for us.
What exactly does the audition entail, you ask? First of all, prepare a verse and chorus of a song in our style (consult our repertoire on this site to get an idea) that you're comfortable singing a cappella. On the actual day, you will fill out a brief info form outside our room as you wait for your turn to sing. When we bring you into our room, the audition itself will have four parts:
Your Solo: You will start singing your prepared song and we will cut you off when we have a good idea of your voice. Don't worry if you don't get all the way through--we'll be cutting almost everyone off for time's sake, regardless of the strength of the audition.
Range Exercises: We'll do some quick exercises to hear how high and low you sing.
Tonal Memory: An intimidating name for a simple exercise in which we'll play a couple notes on our keyboard and ask you to sing them back.
Sightreading: Everybody's favorite part. Kidding. We'll have a snippet of sheet music you've never seen before and ask you to sing it as best you can. Don't stress too much about this part--it's not a make-or-break deal.
As far as advice on what to wear, how to act, etc., we are looking for a performer who is professional, fun, and memorable. Let that be your guide. The more you embody those three adjectives, the better off you'll be. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us--we want you to do your best. We're looking forward to seeing you and hope that you will be the next member of our family! Can't wait to see you there!
